This gene belongs to the MAGE family, sub-family MAGEA.

MAGEA10 was identified by molecular methods, by probing cosmid libraries with MAGE1 sequence (De Plaen, et al. 1994 PMID: 7927540).

Analysis of somatic human-hamster cell hybrids showed that MAGEA10 is located in Xq28 (Rogner et al., 1995 PMID: 8575766).
