CASC5 is located at 15q14.

CASC5 has been reported to be expressed in myeloma, gynecological, lung, and ovarian cancers at the mRNA level. CASC5 has been reported to be expressed in normal testis at the protein level.

CASC5 binds to the hMis12 kinetochore complex, and to the BubR1 and Bub1 spindle checkpoint proteins, all of which are required for normal chromosome alignment and segregation during mitosis.
