Protein function and interaction
KM-HN-1 is a member of centrosome localizing proteins. The C-terminal coiled-coil region contains the “structure maintenance of chromatin” (SMC) motif and the leucine zipper motif, which are important for proper centrosomal localization. Colocalization of KMHN-1 and hCdc14A protein, known to localize to the centrosome and to perform crucial functions in centrosome duplication and mitosis was observed (Park et al., 2007 PMID: 18160854).
Studies with the yeast two-hybrid system revealed interaction of the KM-HN-1 protein with the high-risk human papillomavirus type 18 E6 oncogene (Li et al., 2008 PMID: 18278468).
