Protein function and interaction

SPAG1 is expressed in sperm and testis and plays a role in fertilization ( Kanazawa et al., 2006 PMID: 12846798). SPAG1 is GTP binding protein and its activity may be regulated by phosphorylation (Lin et al., 2001 PMID: 11517287). SPAG1 interacts with G-protein beta 1 subunit and activates ERK, of the family of extracellular signal-regulated kinases (Liu et al., 2006 PMID: 16368546).
