Gene Identification
CEP55 was identified by “in silico”, molecular and cellular methods (Fabbro et al., 2005 PMID: 16198290) and characterized as a cancer testis protein by Inoda et al., 2009 (PMID: 19609239).
Gene structure and chromosomal localization
Cep55 encodes a cDNA that is transcribed from chromosome 10q23.33, consisting of nine exons, of which exon 1 is noncoding. This cDNA encodes a protein of 464 amino acids with three centrally located coiled-coil domains (Fabbro et al., 2005 PMID: 16198290).
Chromosome band: 10q23.33
