Naturally occurring cellular immune responses against CTAG2 are low and rarely detected in cancer patients.

Nevertheless, Wang et al., 2004 have generated and characterized tumor-specific CD4-T cell clones derived from the TILs of a melanoma patient, which recognized LAGE1 peptide as a natural ligand. Tumor-associated CD8(+) T cell epitopes were generated from both primary and nonprimary ORF products of LAGE-1 and NY-ESO-1 genes, in the majority of melanoma tumors (Rimoldi et al., 2000 PMID: 11120859). It is noteworthy of mention the presence of Th cells specific for the alternatively translated tumor Ag CAMEL in cancer patients (Mandic et al., 2003; Slager et al., 2004). In addition, the following CTAG2 epitopes recognized by T cells have been identified after stimulation of lymphocytes in vitro (Cancer Immunity Peptide Database).
