Protein function and interaction
SCP1 is involved in assembly of the synaptonemal complexes (SCS), formed between homologous chromosomes during meiotic prophase. (Ollinger et al., 2005).
SYCP1 interacts with RAD51, a recombinase present in early recombination nodules (Tarsounas et al., 1999) and with SYCE1 and CESC1, constituents of the mammalian synaptonemal complex. (Costa et al., 2005).
