Protein function and interaction
ACRBP binds the acrosome protein proacrosin and is involved in packaging the acrosin zymogen into the acrosomal matrix (by similarity) (Baba et al., 1994 PMID: 8144514). ACRBP is phosphorylated on Tyr residues in capacitated sperm (by similarity) (Dubé et al.,2005 PMID: 15955892). In human bone marrow derived mesenchymal stem cells ACRBP (OY-TES-1) may have a role in the regulation of cell growth, apoptosis and migration (Cen et al., 2012 PMID:22651134). In cancer cells, ACRBP depletion may result in mitotic errors and reduced proliferative fitness (Whitehurst et al., 2010 PMID: 20876808).
