Sixteen complete GAGE genes are found at Xp11.23 in the NCBI36 assembly; 8 genes at the end of NT_079573 (group 'A') and 8 genes at the beginning of NT_086939 (group 'B'). There is a 50 kb gap in the genomic sequence that separates the two groups. Given the GAGE repeat length of ~9.5kb, the gap could contain 5 additional GAGE genes. Numbering of the genes is provisional until the additional genes have been characterised.
