Protein function and interaction

A yeast two-hybrid screen identified the interaction of GAGE and GCL (human germ cell-less homolog 1). GCL can recruit GAGE proteins to the nuclear envelope. GAGE proteins can bind dsDNA directly and may have roles in higher-order chromatin reorganization and reprogramming (Gjerstorff et al., 2012 PMID:23029259). GAGE expression in cancer cell lines interferes with tumor cell migration and/or reduce cell viability (Caballero et al., 2013 PMID:2362551).
