Protein function and interaction
MAGEA3 binds to TRIM28, which belongs to the TRIM family of E3 RING ubiquitin ligases. This interaction may enhance ubiquitin ligase activity through recruitment and/or stabilization of the E2 ubiquitin conjugating enzymes at the E3-substrate complex (Doyle et al, 2010 PMID: 20864041).
The expression of MageA3 is induced by Helicobacter pylori in a mouse cell line (Fukuyama et al., 2012 PMID:22773374).
MAGE-A proteins interact with p53 proteins and MAGE-A family proteins may block the association of p53 with its cognate sites in chromatin (Marcar et al., 2010 PMID: 21056992).
